Custody Review: A Racy Screenplay With Unique Storyline

The latest Tamil-Telugu bilingual film Custody‘s preview showed this morning. Naga Chaitanya plays the lead role along with Krithi Shetty, Arvind Swamy, Priyamani, and Sarath Kumar in important characters. This film is directed by Venkat Prabhu, and it was bankrolled by Srinivasa Chitturi under the banner called Srinivas Silver Screen. Watch Custody in the theatres near you from tomorrow (12 May 2023).

Story (No Spoilers)

The film starts with Shiva (Akkineni Naga Chaitanya), a police officer who is dealing with his personal problems. And then, he gets entrapped in a huge problem in his profession. Why he has to save the criminal (Arvind Swamy)? How he secures himself in the critical stage of this life is the main core of the story.

Custody Movie Review

Watched FDFS of custody, and it was an exhilarating experience, I still can’t get out of the film. There is no debate, actor Naga Chaitanya delivered his best. As a police officer, the stiffness is well-carried by him. He maintained the intensity of the character throughout the film. The flash-back portions gave a vintage vibe of Akkineni Nagarjuna’s old films.

Krithi Shetty understood the character and did the role well. She got enough screen space even though the film is in action mode. The comedy scenes between Premji and Krithi Shetty are a laughter riot and relaxation in this racy film.

Arvind Swamy played a negatively shaded character. All the other actors Sarath Kumar, ‘Kayal’ Ananthi, Sampathraj, and Premi Vishwanath, did their roles perfectly. Priyamani played a key role, and her looks and performance were on point.

The screenplay is an important aspect of the film, it elevates the story, and Venkat Prabhu tried a new style after Maanadu. This film slightly has a Maanadu touch here and there.

Box Office Collection

The film has a huge opening and is expected to collect more than 8 crore on the first day. As it is a Venkat Prabhu film, Custody has a good opening in Tamil Nadu theatres too.

OTT

There is no official confirmation about the OTT streaming. According to sources, the makers are in talks with leading streaming platforms like Netflix, Prime Video, and more. Let’s wait for the official announcement.
