Coronavirus in Krishnagiri: District moves to Orange Zone
Tamil Nadu’s Krishnagiri district records it’s first positive case today on 2 May 2020 (Saturday). A 67 year old man from Nallur near Veppanahalli in Krishnagiri, returned from Puttaparthi in Andhra Pradesh, tested positive for COVID-19, confirms district collector S Prabhakar. The person currently isolated in the government medical college hospital.
Meanwhile, the centre has extended the lockdown till May 17. But this time government has eased rules for a number of activities. The only TN district Krishnagiri which was in Green Zone previously moves to Orange zone from now.
Earlier, a man from Hosur tested postive for COVID 19 and recovered after 34 days in self-quarantine, the confirmatory test returned negative last week.
On April 27, Dr.Prabhakar told THE HINDU that “All results and machines and techniques are standardised to deal with issues of this kind. And when we get such outcomes, we also follow the standard operating procedures and the WHO guidelines to deal with these issues,,”
Overall, Tamil Nadu has reported the fourth-highest number of positive COVID-19 cases in the country after Maharashtra, Gujarat and Delhi, with a total of 2,526 confirmed cases, and 27 deaths so far.
