Chennai Police Inspector Shot Dead in Rajasthan
Periyapandiyan, a 48-year-old Maduravoyal Police from Chennai was killed in shootout in Pali District, Rajasthan when a special team of Tamil Nadu police attempted to nab a gang of robbers in the burglary case. Also, Kolathur Inspector Munisekhar was injured in during the face-off with the robbers.
A senior police official identified the deceased as S Periyapandiyan, an inspector attached to the Maduravoyal police station in Chennai. He said,
“The shoot-out took place when a police team went to nab the suspects at a village in Pali district. Periyapandiyan was killed in the firing while others suffered injuries,”
The officials said that the incident occurred around 2:30 am and a special police team led by Joint Commissioner (West) Santosh Kumar. He is likely to visit Rajasthan in connection with the incident.
Last Month, Gold of 3.5 kg was robbed from a jewellery shop at Kolathur, Chennai after entering it by making a hole in the ceiling.
The Police team barged into the defendant house in Jai Taran village around 2.30am. Robbers opened fire on the police personnel and escaped from there.
Periyapandi and four others suffered injuries. The police team from Chennai had two pistols for their safety. But, they didn’t expect a trap.
