Aadhaar is not Mandatory for Getting Pension: Jitendra Singh
Recently, there was a report of some retired employees facing difficulty in getting the pension amount due to the absence of Aadhaar linkage with their bank accounts. But, Jitendra Singh, Minister of State for Personnel, said: “Aadhaar is not mandatory for the employees of the central government to get their pension amount.” While attending the 30th meeting of the standing committee of Voluntary agencies, he said Aadhaar is an additional tool to enable the use of technology for the submission of life certificate without the need for visiting banks.

Aadhaar is a 12-digit number issued by the UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India), which acts as address and identification proof. Jitendra Singh has also said the central government has started various initiatives for the welfare of its pensioners and employees. Further, he added, “The minimum pension has been increased to ₹9,000, the ceiling of gratuity has been raised to ₹20 lakh, fixed medical allowance has been extended to ₹1,000 per month.”
