3 Arrested for Gang Raping a 15-yr-old Girl in Bus in TN

In Tamil Nadu, a teenage girl was Gang Raped in a private bus by the two drivers and a conductor in Salem, the place is just 350 Km away from the state capital Chennai. In this case, three of them were charged and arrested. This case reminds the 2012 incident Delhi Nirbahaya gang rape case.

According to the police report, the girl just completed her Class IX, and because of some issue in her family, she ran away from her home on Monday noon. Then she got into the private bus running between Salem to Omalur which is 20 km from Salem. She travelled nearly 7 hours on that bus.

A teenage girl was Gang Rape in a private bus by the two drivers and a conductor

After the last trip, the crew parked the bus in an isolated area about seven kilometers away from Omalur and allegedly assaulted the teenager one after the other, police said.

Regularly driver Manivannan and Murugan will take the bus for the trip and as usual, they were driving the bus while the conductor Perumal had a friendly talk with the girl. The girl stated that those men threatened her not to get down from the bus. When the third man tried to attack her she escaped from the bus by screaming and running on the road.

The girl screaming was heard by the some of the villagers nearby, and they rescued her from them and handovered her to the police.

The parent of the girl is working for daily wages. And the police officials confirmed that this girl is from Dalit and before this incident she ran twice from her home.

Now the girl is in the children’s home where she is getting counselling from the experts. Till now nobody knows that whether the girl has undergone any medical examination. The officials were not able to get any other information from the girl.

Those three were charged with these following sections Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act(POCSO) and in the Prevention of SC/ST Atrocities Act and also for kidnapping the girl, intimidation and for attempt rape.
