TamilNadu’s Most Sensational Murder Case is taken as a movie and named ‘Swathi Kolai Vazhakku,’ the trailer for the film based on the murder of Swathi, the 24-year-old software engineer, and the makers released the real life incidents surrounding the subsequent investigation on Monday.
The movie’s trailer described the murder case as seen by a police officer investigating the murder. Swathi was murdered when she was waiting for the train in the morning at the Nungambakkam railway station on June 24, 2016. Director made a film by researching everyone’s thoughts behind the incident and the real fact behind it.
Ramkumar, An accused in the case was caught a few months later and committed suicide by biting a live wire inside a prison in September that year.
The movie made with the actors like Ajmal, who plays the leading role of an investigating officer and a host of newcomers playing supporting roles.
Director Ramesh Selvan said that he had begun writing the script in August before the police nabbed Ramkumar.
“I followed the investigation and spoke to a few acquaintances of both Swathi and Ramkumar, as well as officials investigating the case as research for the movie,”
When asked about a possible reaction from the family members of those involved in the case as he has retained all the original names and has reproduced the case on screen, he said that he was going to screen the movie for both the families separately.
Ramesh also said,
“I will take the film and screen it to both Swathi’s and Ramkumar’s families separately and get their approval before I proceed with the release,”
